Board Meeting Minutes for May 9, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance given by all present.

Roll Call: Trustee Jager, Clerk Johnson, Supervisor Jager, Treasurer Halbower, and Trustee Schroeder.

Review of minutes:

050117 Trustee Jager made a motion to accept the April 11, 2017 minutes as presented. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

050217 Trustee Jager made a motion to accept the April 18, 2017 Budget Workshop minutes as presented. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

Review of Bills:

050317 Treasurer made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.

Business from the Floor: Per Trustee Jager – Gary Foster our County Commissioner was sorry he couldn’t make it – he is always available if anyone would like to talk to him.

Brett Solva – Michigan State Police Officer attended and stated that officers are being tasked to attend meetings and are available if anyone has any issues to discuss.

Treasurer’s Report:

050417 Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the treasurers report as presented. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

Department Reports: Fire Chief hawk reported total man-hours of 320 for April. This ties the record for most runs. Expenses for the 206 account were $5,202.56 which is currently 11% under budget. The 216 account had zero expenses.

Marc would like to add the following 6 people to the fire department as probationary fire fighters. Austyn Yarrington, Summer Ferns, Casey Gaultney, Adam Cowley, Nicholas Mock, and Gaberial Johnston – pending passing his pre-employment physical.

050517 Trustee Jager made the motion to hire the 6 listed above with Gaberial Johnston pending passing his pre-employment physical. Clerk Johnson seconded. CARRIED.

Marc would like permission to replace the structural FF boots as they are 10 years old, and by law they need to be replaced after 10 years. He has 3 quotes per boot prices – Sheridan Sales $285, Bradner Fire & Rescue, LLC $325, RSM & Associates $310. Marc would like to purchase 20 pair @ $285 per pair.

050617 Trustee Jager made the motion to allow the purchase of 20 pairs of structural FF boots @ $285 each for a cost of $5700.

The fire department received 1000 feet of free 5” hose from Livonia Fire Department as they were replacing some hose.

New Business: DPW truck. Alan would like permission to look for a truck and an amount that he can

go up to, to purchase one.

050717 Treasurer Halbower made the motion that Alan be allowed up to $12,000 for the purchase of a DPW truck. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.

Library repairs. We have a quote from Jeff Briske to power wash, repair, and stain and paint the wood trim, doors and frames for $1320.

Marc priced sealer -$15 a gallon and a sprayer – $25 from Holton Hardware.

050917 Trustee Jager made the motion for Marc to purchase materials to apply sealer to the Library up to $500. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

Stephanie Barrett, Muskegon County and Dale Twining presented information regarding the Drain Commission Resolution – Robinson Drain is in need of maintenance – it is an Intercounty drain, and the Drainage Board needs this Resolution as the costs exceed what they are authorized to spend. The Drainage Board is authorized to levy a special assessment, as allowed by law. MDOT will be paying 80% of the costs as it is along the road.

051017 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to approve the Resolution from the Intercounty Drain Drainage Board. Clerk Johnson seconded. ROLL CALL VOTE: Trustee Schroeder – YES, Treasurer Halbower – YES, Supervisor Jager – YES, Clerk Johnson –

YES, Trustee Jager – NO. RESOLUTION PASSED.

Mr. Bumstead – Representative from Newaygo County introduced himself.

Future Business: Improvements to Brickyard Road
