Review of minutes:

010117 Trustee Jager made a motion to accept the December 13, 2016 minutes as presented. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

Review of Bills:

010217 Trustee Jager made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Treasurer Halbower seconded. CARRIED.

Business from the Floor: Julie Vanderboegh, Librarian introduced new employee Heidi who will be working with new programs and better ways to serve the community.

Treasurer’s Report:

010317 Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the treasurers report as presented. Clerk Johnson seconded. CARRIED.

Department Reports:

Fire Chief Hawk reported for the month of December. Total man hours 205.5 hours. There was a record number of runs in 2016 of 311. Expenses for the 206 account were $5914.29 which is currently 22% under budget. The 216 account had zero expenses.

The list of new fire officers that Marc asked for approval are: Bryan Hawk – Assistant Chief, Ted Hawk – Captain, and Brian Norton – Lieutenant.

Correspondence: A letter with the dates of the Road Commission meetings. January 11, 2017 there is a meeting if anyone would like to attend.

Unfinished Business: Received a letter from Slater Farms regarding removing sand from another location that they own to use as bedding for their cattle. Discussion of the sand mining ordinance and changes that would be helpful to our farmers.

010517 Trustee Jager made the motion to send the current Sand Mining Ordinance back to the Planning Commission for review, so that an amendment can be made to the Sand Mining Ordinance. To allow Agricultural farmers whose principle farm is located in Holton Township to sand mine on other agricultural properties that said farmer owns in Holton Township as long as they are only leveling a hill. Trustee Schroeder seconded. ROLL CALL VOTE: Treasurer Halbower – YES, Supervisor Jager – YES, Clerk Johnson – YES, Trustee Jager – YES, Trustee Schroeder – YES. MOTION CARRIED.

Rental Inspections: After discussion on whether it is necessary to continue the inspections it was tabled till our next meeting without action.

It was decided that it is not necessary for the Secretary to attend Board Meetings.

Dumpster enclosures: After discussion it was decided to send this to Planning Commission for review.

010617 Trustee Jager made the motion to send the dumpster enclosure ordinance back to the Planning Commission for review. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

Recycle bins: Discussion of pros and cons of moving recycle to transfer station.

010717 Trustee Jager made the motion to move the recycle bins to the transfer station in the Spring. Trustee Schroeder seconded. ROLL CALL VOTE: Trustee Schroeder – YES,
Trustee Jager – YES, Clerk Johnson – NO, Supervisor Jager – NO, Treasurer Halbower – NO. MOTION FAILS.

New Business: Reappoint William VanDyke to BOR as alternate.

010817 Trustee Jager made the motion to reappoint William VanDyke to BOR as alternate. Trustee Schroeder seconded. CARRIED.

New rates for tire drop off at transfer station: If we are to continue to take in tires we need to raise the rates as the haulers fees have increased. The new rates would be for Passenger tires without rims $4 – with rims $7.… Medium Tires w/o rims $5 – with rims $10.… Semi tires w/o rims $11 – with rims $15.…
Tractor tires w/o rims $30 – with rims $55.

Marc’s attendance at the Winter Fire Chief Conference in Novi – $495 for Conference and room.

011017 Clerk Johnson made the motion to allow Marc to attend the Winter Fire Chief’s Conference in Novi. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.
