Review of minutes:

Treasurer’s Report: 

120316                  Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the treasurers report as presented.  Clerk Johnson seconded.  CARRIED.

Department Reports:  Fire Chief Stevens reported total man-hours of 195 for November.

Expenses for the 206 account were $10,396.13 which is currently 16% under budget. The 216 account had zero expenses.

One of the fire trucks is having the radiator rebuilt – it is 30 years old and the fire department will be looking for a new truck in the future.

Business from the Floor:  Presentation by D.J. Hilson on the Cannabis Laws. D.J gave a 45 minutes presentation on the new law, and the board and audience were able to ask questions.  It is Public Act 281 – The Licensing Act allows the creation of a Marijuana Board  (5 member board) which the Governor appoints.  There will be a statewide tracking system (17 members) and they will regulate the THC level of Infused products.

Resignation of Fire Chief

120416                  Trustee Jager made the motion to accept Art’s resignation with regret and sadness effective December 31, 2016.  Trustee Schroeder seconded.  CARRIED.

Appointment of New Fire Chief :  There were 2 applicants   Marc Hawk and Brian Hawk

Marc Hawk was recommended.

120516                  Trustee Jager made the motion to appoint Marc Hawk as the new fire chief.  Clerk Johnson seconded.  CARRIED.

Correspondence:  There were letters regarding the moving of the recycle – they will be referred to when this is on the agenda.

120616                  Trustee Jager made the motion to reappoint Ron Stitt, Stephen Mullins, and Kent Clomp to the Board of Review for a 2 year term to end Jan 2019.  Trustee Schroeder seconded.  CARRIED.

120716                  Trustee Jager made the motion to reappoint Mike Cygeirt and Rhett Sease for a 3 year term ending Jan 2020. Appoint Louis Slater to the Planning Commission – the term ending Jan 2020.  Clerk Johnson seconded. CARRIED.

120816                  Trustee Jager made the motion to remove Al Bartolameolli from the Planning Commission at his request.  Trustee Schroeder seconded.  CARRIED.

120916                  Trustee Jager made the motion to reappoint Brett Lascko, Don Erickson, and Tommy Monette to the Construction Board of Appeals for a 2 year term ending Jan 2019.  Clerk Johnson seconded.  CARRIED.

121016                  Trustee Jager made the motion to reappoint Dave White to the Park Commission for a 3 year term ending Jan 2020.  Trustee Schroeder seconded.  CARRIED.

Board approval for Tammy Jager to serve Deputy Clerk

121116                  Trustee Schroeder made the motion to approve Tammy Jager to serve as Clerk Johnson’s Deputy Clerk.  Treasurer Halbower seconded.  CARRIED>

Changes to MADL contract:  Since Fruitport Township voted to opt out of the MADL contract changes need to be approved with their removal.

Approval of Poverty Exemption Guidelines for 2017

 121316                  Treasurer Halbower made the motion to approve the Federal Poverty Exemption Guidelines.  Trustee Jager seconded.   CARRIED.

Discussion of recycle relocation – there were 3 letters in regards to this.

Discussion of the Secretary attending Board Meetings, dumpster enclosures, sand mining, and rental inspections.

These will all be on the agenda at a future meeting.

MTA training for new Trustee:
