Board Meeting Minutes for April 14, 2015

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance given by all present.

Roll Call: Treasurer Halbower, Supervisor Noble, Clerk Johnson, and Trustee Jager present. Trustee Wilson absent.

Agenda is set.

Review of minutes:

040115 Trustee Jager made a motion to accept the March 10, 2015 minutes as presented. Treasurer Halbower seconded. CARRIED.

Review of Bills:

040215 Trustee Jager made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Treasurer Halbower seconded. CARRIED.

Business from the Floor: None

Treasurer’s Report:

040315 Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the treasurers report as presented. Clerk Johnson seconded. CARRIED.

Department Reports:

Fire Chief Stevens reported for the month of March. Total man hours 183 hours.
Expenses for the 206 account were $10,336.61and is currently 15% under budget. The 216 account had $0 expenses and is 75% under budget.

Art handed out brochures about a new program called Smart911. People can create a safety profile with details that include information about who lives in the household, add contact phone numbers and addresses that you frequent. Vehicle information and emergency contacts. Pets or livestock that you may have. Details that could save valuable time during an emergency. Any information that they choose to add to their profile, and it would only be accessed in an emergency.

Art also talked about a grant where they have been given free smoke detectors to install in area residents homes. Anyone is eligible. They just need to contact the fire department and let them know how many they would like installed. Art would like tentative approval to pay a partial payment of $1000 towards a Res Q Jack, and pay the rest of the balance of $4808 in the next budget year. This is a valuable piece of equipment that is used to support vehicles of a portion of a building to make it safe for rescues.

New Business: Request for Clerk to attend MAMC Annual Conference June 23-26 at Mackinac Island. Registration is $300 and room is $597 plus Island taxes.

040515 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to allow Clerk Johnson to attend the MAMC Conference.
Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.

Inspector Contracts are due to be signed again. It was suggested we change the compensation fees from 90/10 percent to 80/20 percent as a number of other Townships have gone to this.

040515 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to change the Independent Contractor fees to 80/20 percent.  Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.

Update of Township Computers – The computer operating systems in our computers is no longer supported as it is the older version, and our word programs are also out dated. We can either upgrade what we have or purchase new towers and word programs. Cost would under $6000 to update the 6 computers that would need to be updated.

040615 Clerk Johnson made the motion to update the 6 computers at a total cost of not more that $6000.  Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.

Approval of request to purchase detacher for Township grounds, cemetery, and park.

040715 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to approver the purchase of a dethatcher for use in the
Township. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.

Request for Marc and Julie to attend the Annual Cemetery Conference June 10-12 in Traverse City at a cost of $724.92.

040815 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to allow Julie and Marc to attend the Annual Conference.
Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.
